Hold My Hand

A Ragtag Daily Prompt

Put Your Hand in the Hand

Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
Put your hand in the hand of the man
From Galilee
My momma taught me how to pray
Before I reached the age of seven
When I’m down on my knees
That’s when I’m closest to heaven
Daddy lived his life, two kids and a wife
Well you do what you must do
But he showed me enough of what it takes
To get me through, oh yeh!
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
Put your hand in the hand of the man
From Galilee
Oh yeh!Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
Put your hand in the hand of the man
From Galilee Oh yeh!
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the man
Who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself
And you can look at others differently
Put your hand in the hand of the man
From Galilee Oh yeh!
Put your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee
Put your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee,
Oh yeh!

My dad used to sing this song. He sang along with the radio. He sang it whenever it popped into his head, which was often. He hummed and whistled.

He sang loudly and with gusto: hymns, Christmas carols, songs on the radio. He loved to sing.

He died 15 years ago and there are days when I grieve for him and my mom like it was yesterday. He was calm in the face of panic and if he was here he is the one I would turn to for comfort. He was my hero.

My father is gone, but my heavenly Father is always with me. He is the calm in the storm and the one who comforts me. He is my shepherd.

No matter what happens, whether I get Covid-19 or not, I will not be alone. I will put my hand in the hand of the man who stilled the waters. He will hold my hand and I will be at peace.
