Siesta like a Baby

A Ragtag Daily Word Prompt

Photo by Tatiana Syrikova on Pexels.com

Who doesn’t love a good nap? Every afternoon around 1:00 I go to bed for an hour and I sleep like a baby. I sleep so deep that when I wake up I’m not sure what day it is or if it’s morning.

Mornings lately start at 5:30. I take a coffee and my daily bible and sit on the deck. There is something about the stillness of an early morning that invites quiet introspection. It’s a special time. Just me and God and the birds.

When I’m depressed or particularly stressed, sleep is my escape. With all of the unrest in the States and around the world, I wish I could escape into to sleep until it’s all over. My spirit animal must be an ostrich or maybe a bear.

Sleep, like nature or a quiet morning, restores my soul. We all need a special place that brings us peace and a quiet sense of strength. I wish all of you a day filled with peace, love, and joy!

  1. I’d be inclined to nap, too, or more likely read. But when I was having a lot of back trouble a chiropractor told me a nice warm soak in the tub is better than a siesta for reducing stress. Thanks for participating in today’s prompt.
