The Suspense is Killing Me
I feel like I can’t breathe. Heart racing, I’m spinning my wheels going nowhere fast. It’s exhausting and I wonder how much more of this any of us can take.
The last 3 days have been excruciating while we wait for the results of the American election. The suspense is killing me. It’s not even my country and yet, I wait and pray, hoping that soon the chaos will be over.
For me, the importance of this race is not about a Republican or Democrat president. The race is for democracy. A fight to stop fascism from bleeding into the fabric of American society. A determined desperation to end the beginnings of a coup to make America a dictatorship. A last chance to prevent a Trump dynasty.
Trump’s claim to make America great again resulted in four years of hate. He pits American against American and revels in the discord. He encourages white supremacy, police brutality, and vigilante justice among his base. He denies climate change, science, and the expertise of medical professionals.
While he denounces peaceful protests his lies push his followers to the precipice of a civil war. He politicizes not wearing a mask. He talks about Covid-19 as if it’s nothing worse than the flu while the death toll rises. He places no value on the American lives he callously disregards. It’s all about him.
Trump has alienated allies and befriended dictators. The world watches in disbelief as this buffoon makes a mockery of everything that makes America united and free. Among allied countries there is only pity for the citizens of a once great nation.
If the last four years have shown us anything it is that the only one Trump cares about is himself. He will stand on the dead bodies of every single American, if necessary, to get what he wants.
America deserves a president who will uphold its values with dignity and respect. An honourable, worthy man capable of leading his people to a place of restoration. A place of truth and order.
This election has been a fight for the soul of America. With so much at stake it’s no wonder that the suspense is almost more than we can bear. For healing to begin in the land of the free and the home of the brave there is only one man to lead. Under his leadership the people of the United States of America can hold their heads up high and say, “I am proud to be an American!”
