If ever there was an upside-down, inside-out year, it is 2020. I often felt like I was living in an alternate reality. A year where right is wrong and chaos reigns. It’s been a year of outrageous conspiracy theories believed by people I never expected would fall for such nonsense. Most surprising was watching christians embrace with cult-like devotion a leader bent on destroying democracy in America.
Common sense flew out the window when people protested wearing masks, determined to protect their right to freedom at the cost of their lives. So much turmoil and friction fuelled by anger and hate. The vitriol spewed in a never ending cycle of viciousness.
It felt like it would go on forever. As the year 2020 was coming to a close, hope started to grow. Hope that 2021 would be a year of changes for good. A sense that something resembling normalcy would return.
2020 has been one long ‘opposite’ day. After a year where you say yes and I say no, and I say high and you say low, we can all agree with the Beatles. Hello (2021) Goodbye (2020)!
